ECFF KIDS WATER SAFETY CAMPAIGN

Please help us make sure every child has the opportunity to learn to be safe in and around water by donating to our Kids Water Safety Campaign. This fund is set aside to cover the costs for children whose parents can’t afford the full price of swim lessons.

Drowning is the No. 1 cause of death for children ages 1-4 and the second leading cause of death for older children. Black children drown at a higher rate than white children. Children with autism are at 160 times the risk.

Last year, this fund helped more than 80 children learn to swim!

An additional 1,500 and 100 adults children took swim lessons at our pools.

Our campaign also supplements the extra costs of our instructional program, including our Spectrum Swim program, which offers lessons to students with moderate to severe autism or other developmental challenges. These lessons involve a large number of instructors and a small number of students, in order to create a pool environment conducive to neurodivergent learning.

Large donors ($100 or more) are recognized on a sign posted next to the scoreboard at the indoor Bernie R. LeFebvre Aquatic Center where year-round instruction takes place for all ages and abilities. This sign is updated annually.

We also use our Kids Water Safety Campaign to fund water safety instruction at schools and community events. Last year, we brought water safety instruction to more than 2,000 children in Okaloosa County schools.

Stop by one of our pools to make a donation. Please designate the donation for the Kids Water Safety Campaign and inform the staff member who processes it.

Help us save lives.
