Bernie R. Lefebvre AQUATIC CENTER

Our indoor pool is located on the property with Liza Jackson Preparatory School in Fort Walton Beach. The pool entrance is off Lewis Turner Blvd.

Bernie Weather Policy

Please pay attention to weather conditions and notifications sent by text or email, or posted on Facebook.

If there is lightning within 8 miles of the pool, as indicated by lightning tracking applications like "WeatherBug" and "Spark", the pool and deck must be evacuated.

Evacuation orders will remain in place until the lightning has moved to more than 8 miles away and conditions or predictive radar indicate that it will not recur soon.

If tropical weather is headed to our area, we will comply with all local safety guidelines for the safety of our patrons and staff.

Rarely will we close the pool pre-emptively simply based upon weather forecasts. We do our best to be open as much as is possible and safe. Patrons are asked to comply and cooperate with all staff/lifeguard directives regarding weather immediately.

Programs at the Bernie

Aquacize

Our program includes 10 classes a week for participants of all ages and abilities. Stairs and a lift chair are available to help those who need extra help entering the pool.

Swim Lessons

Develop the skills and confidence necessary to safely navigate the water.

Financial Aid is available. Please contact Wendy for more information.

Lap Swim

Enjoy our indoor pool seven days a week for lap swim. Our six-lane pool is 25 yards long and offers stairs as well as a chair for those with mobility issues. Check our current schedule for daily times.

Family Swim

Looking for a place to bring the kids to swim? The Bernie has family swim times on Friday evenings, as well as Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Affordable group rate for family includes two generations. Our pool is 3 1/2-feet deep at the shallow end and 6 feet at the deep end.

Looking to introduce your little one to the water and have some fun? We have a class for you.

Adult Swim Lessons

Did you know that nearly half of the adult population is afraid to be in water over their heads? Fear of the water is more common than you think. Whether you want to improve your strokes or get accustomed to being in the water in a safe space, our adult lessons can help.

Tri Time

Triathlon Coach Dave Bolon runs Tri Time at the Bernie twice a week from February through November. Whether it’s your first triathlon or you’re looking for a place to train for your 100th, join us. Classes are at 8 p.m. Mondays and 8 a.m. Fridays. Stroke development included.

Warrior Wednesday

Looking for a career in the military? Dan Rimes of T3i offers military swim training two Wednesdays a month at the Bernie. His specialty is Special Warfare but he’s open to all students. Contact Wendy Rudman to register.

Water Safety Presentations

Drowning is the No. 1 cause of death for children ages 1-4 and the second leading cause of death for older children. We want to make sure all children have access to life saving information about rip currents, beach flags, and other key water safety information. We will even bring our portable rip current simulator to give students a hands-on lesson.

Sea Dragon Swim Shop

Swim Shop is located in the pool office and is available during all open hours of the Aquatic Center.
