Teaching swim lessons is the kind of work where your smile and dedication can change a child’s life. Your work will provide a meaningful learning experience for kids in our community.
Required:
- Previously taught swim lessons OR previous swim team member
- Enjoys working with children
- 16 & Older
- Ready to learn and open to constructive feedback
- Punctual and dependable
- Has reliable transportation
Shifts are flexible, however applicants must be able to provide consistent availability at least 2 weekdays OR provide consistent availability every Saturday. Shifts are not available on Sundays.
Pay starts at $15 per hour. Compensation will include 1 free pool pass for personal use.
Lifeguarding is more than sitting in the sun all day - you will be the first line of defense for our valued pool patrons. Each day you will use decision-making and communication skills to maintain the safety of others which develops confidence, responsibility and focus. Interaction with your lifeguard team and the pool patrons can form lasting friendships and often open other opportunities.
Required:
- Holds a current lifeguard certification OR is willing to complete a lifeguard certification course (provided by us)
- Able to swim 300 yards (12 laps) continuously using the breaststroke or front crawl.
- Able to tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs.
- Able to complete the following in 1min. 40 sec: Swim 20 yards and then free dive to 6ft and retrieve a 10lb object. Must then swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point.
- Able to exit the pool without using a ladder or steps.
- 15 & Older

- Has reliable transportation

If the applicant does not currently hold a lifeguard certification, they will be required to pay for the cost of the course. Upon completion of the course, they will allowed to work.
